    This picture was taken at one of my favorite attractions in San Francisco - the Zoo. My husband and I have vacationed in San Francisco for most of the 40 years we have been together. For many years, going to the Zoo was what we did on our first full day there. The big cats (lions and tigers) were always one of our favorite exhibits. This Lion Portrait is bittersweet for me, because I think it is one of the best lion photos I have ever made. The Zoo has re-homed its lions and tigers, so it's no longer possible to see them there, but  the Zoo still has a snow leopard or two, and Fisher Cats, and many other species of birds and animals, including two grizzly bears. This photo takes me back to when lions were a part of the Zoo.
